For Me

I quit looking for knowledge when I left high school,

armed with the letters, numbers and the Golden Rule.

Along with the wisdom of my Father who’s gone

which gave me a path in life to stroll along.

I feel my next illusion is up to me,

and if it’s not, let be what be.

I have seen things in this life of mine.

There are no books in which to define.

I’ve been confused and consumed by pain.

Thoughts of suicide flooded my brain.

Each day I wonder why I am still here.

I welcome death’s kiss without any fear.

I have seen many things one seldom talks of,

from the aftermaths of war that cost me my love...

Yet, the most beautiful thing that I see,

is this path I’m on, chosen for Me, by Me!
