You are here

Journey

I slapped myself while looking in the mirror,
no matter how hard I slapped I was still here.
Stuck in this illusion so many call life or living,
with so many taking and so few giving.

How I am here doesn't worry me,
I don't care if it's from God or biology.
Why I am here is the real question,
does anyone have a truthful suggestion?

From that slap on my rear that started me crying,
I sucked in my first breath and I began dying.
I'll have only a few trips around the sun,
filled with frustration, sadness, or fun.

Service to self or service to mankind,
which one is the best course that one should find?
So many questions and only a few number of breaths,
how many will we answer before we've reached our deaths?

When you get older your values don't change,
you just open your heart and increase your range.
You feel yourself as one with the whole,
and realize the warmth of your eternal soul.
