Twenty Two

Twenty Two
First went the uniform they were so proud of
second they were cast out from most whom they loved.
Then came poverty which made the alleys and streets their home
as they would walk aimlessly in a world of their own.
At first asking for handouts shamed them to the core
It burned deeper in their hearts more than they'd seen in war.
Many that have PTSD roam endlessly
and run across brothers and sisters who also aren't free.
Not free from depression, panic attacks, anxiety and pain
not free from the flash backs which torment their brain.
Once they all served with Honor and Dignity
but now their cast outs in humanity.
We need to make a difference and initiate a plan
To stop the twenty two deaths a day thats plaguing our land.
