Convictions

Subliminal seeds torment my mind.

Every day there's a new one to find.

Quite often they control my every action.

by dividing my thoughts into miniscule fractions.

I’ve tried so hard to throw them away,

but in my dreams their scenarios play.

Showing me glimpses of past places,

buildings, and people without any faces.

If Déjà vu is what you believe,

could it be mind tricks meant to deceive?

Do we have past lives or futures to come?

Or are our bodies hollow and numb?

After this existence what will I be?

This question will always haunt humanity.

Is there a God to love and guide us

or do we just rot and our bones turn to dust?

Are there any guides to a peaceful path?

Or is it pain after pain leading towards wrath?

Is there a theologist that’s sure of himself

and doesn’t perform for power or for wealth?

I’ve toyed with these questions since I was nine.

I’ve talked to the ministers with nothing to find.

I’ve scanned the Bible and found contradictions.

Now I’ve chosen my self taught convictions.

I believe in believing not books or pulpits.

It helped me remove life’s painful culprits.

Any adventures in a possible next life I find

will be generated from the power of my own mind...
